Buzz Solutions has closed an oversubscribed $20 million Series A led by S3 Ventures. GoPoint Ventures, HearstLab and Blackhorn Ventures also participated.
The company sits in Palo Alto, California, and has been working on the same problem since 2017: how utilities keep track of the physical condition of the equipment carrying their power. Kaitlyn Albertoli, the chief executive, and Vikhyat Chaudhry, the chief technology officer, co-founded it.
Its product, PowerAI, works as an intelligent visual inspection and orchestration layer. Utilities use it to analyze and manage the health of critical physical assets across transmission, distribution and solar networks, which in practice means turning enormous volumes of inspection imagery into something an operations team can act on.
The customer list is not a small one. Dominion Energy, American Electric Power and the New York Power Authority all run Buzz Solutions. Over the past year the company tripled its customer count and grew revenue 400 percent.
The new money is earmarked for product development, an expanded go to market organization, and deeper deployments inside the utility customers it already has.
