Wispr Flow has raised $280 million in a Series B led by Menlo Ventures, an existing investor. The round values the AI dictation company at $2 billion, close to triple where it stood nine months ago.
Current backers Notable Capital, NEA and Neo Ventures returned. Acrew, Forerunner, Goodwater and Peak XV came in as new investors. Wispr last raised $25 million in a Series A extension in November of last year at a $700 million valuation, and total funding now sits at $361 million.
Alongside the raise the company previewed Canto, its first proprietary speech recognition model. Wispr says Canto brings word error rates down from over 30 percent to somewhere between 5 and 10 percent in noisy conditions, which is the situation most dictation actually happens in.
Usage numbers are large. More than 60 billion words have been generated on the platform, and the product has been adopted at nearly all Fortune 500 companies and more than 10,000 enterprises. The company is now pushing past dictation into meeting notetaking, hardware partnerships and research on new interfaces.
Wispr operates from San Francisco. Its California base puts it in the middle of a crowded field of AI voice companies competing for the same enterprise budgets.
