Mainframe Secures $5.5 Million in Seed Funding to Revolutionize Generative Productivity Software

Mainframe, a San Francisco-based company specializing in generative productivity software, has successfully raised $5.5 million in seed funding. This significant investment round was co-led by Peter Boyce II of Stellation Capital and Lachy Groom, with additional participation from notable investors such as Alana Goyal, Akshay Kothari (co-founder of Notion), and Weekend Fund, among others.

The funding brings Mainframe’s total capital to $6.75 million, underscoring investor confidence in the company’s vision to revolutionize human productivity and redefine how humans interact with computers. Mainframe’s co-founder and CEO, Jordan Singer, is renowned for his design and product innovation expertise, having previously founded Diagram (acquired by Figma) and contributed to impactful user experiences during his tenure at Cash App.

Singer’s background in building tools that combine design with advanced functionality is central to Mainframe’s product philosophy, which prioritizes user experience, simplicity, and elegance. He is joined by a distributed team of engineers and product innovators based in San Francisco, New York, Canada, and Europe. The company’s remote-first approach reflects the innovative spirit of San Francisco, leveraging technology to work more efficiently while embracing the flexibility and inclusivity of a global team.

Mainframe is at the forefront of developing generative productivity software that transforms digital workflows. The company’s debut product, Cobot, is a generative AI assistant designed to anticipate user needs and streamline daily tasks, scheduled to launch in Q1 of 2025. Unlike traditional tools that passively wait for input, Cobot actively collaborates with users, leveraging advanced AI to predict actions and reduce repetitive tasks, freeing users to focus on more meaningful work.

The funding will enable Mainframe to expand its team, accelerate product development, and bring innovative solutions to market. The company is actively hiring across engineering and product roles to build the foundation for future breakthroughs in human-computer interaction.

Jordan Singer, co-founder and CEO of Mainframe, shared his vision for the future of AI and productivity: “At Mainframe, we’re imagining a future where AI is the default, software generates itself, and agents are the new apps. Large language models have transformed the perceived capabilities of computers. We’re building what it looks and feels like to operate in a new environment where the bicycle for the mind has an engine.”

Lachy Groom, co-lead investor, highlighted Mainframe’s potential to redefine how people work with computers: “Mainframe is redefining what it means to interact with technology by creating tools that feel less like software and more like a trusted collaborator. The company’s vision for intelligent, proactive AI solutions like Cobot addresses a significant gap in the productivity space, and we believe they are poised to set a new standard for how people work with computers.”

Peter Boyce II, founder and managing partner at Stellation Capital, emphasized the importance of user-friendly and intuitive design in AI products: “It’s exciting to see a number of new AI products on the market, but enduring success will likely belong to tools that do more than just perform tasks quickly, focusing instead on genuine user-friendliness and intuitive design. The team at Mainframe is well-positioned to deliver these platforms having directly developed some of the most widely used consumer and enterprise digital products. We’re eager to witness their long-range vision take shape.”

This funding round marks a significant milestone for Mainframe, positioning the company to lead the fast-evolving AI software space and transform how humans interact with technology.
