Chptr has raised $5.5 million in Series A funding to build out infrastructure for moving timely local stories across television, radio and digital platforms. The New York company announced the round on June 11, 2026.
The financing was led by CityRock, with participation from Tribute Technology. Chptr also brought strategic partnerships into the round, working with iHeartMedia, Sinclair and Hearst, three names that carry significant weight across American broadcast and audio.
The company is trying to restore the reach of people’s most important announcements on the local media platforms communities still trust. It is starting with end-of-life memorial content, an area where speed matters and traditional distribution has often fallen short. Chptr’s proprietary technology is designed to take a local, time-sensitive story from its origin to full distribution in under 24 hours, a turnaround that would be difficult through conventional channels.
Chptr is already operating at meaningful scale. The company says it is live in 132 U.S. television markets, covering the majority of American households, and has delivered thousands of localized broadcasts across every major metropolitan area. That footprint gives it a foundation to build on as it expands into new territory.
With the fresh capital, Chptr plans to move into the remaining U.S. markets, deepen its integrations across broadcast and audio networks, and develop additional content categories beyond memorials. The company has its sights on other forms of time-sensitive local information, suggesting it sees its distribution engine as something that can carry far more than just memorial content over time.
