Bedrock Ocean Exploration, a Brooklyn-based company developing robots for seafloor exploration and offshore wind energy, announced today that it has raised $25.5 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Eniac Ventures, with participation from R7 Partners, Quiet Capital, Primary Venture Partners, and others.

The funding will be used to accelerate Bedrock’s development of its robots, which are designed to collect and analyze seafloor data more efficiently and effectively than traditional methods. The company’s robots can be used to map the seafloor, identify potential hazards, and monitor offshore wind farms.

“We are excited to partner with this group of world-class investors to accelerate our mission of making the ocean more accessible and understandable,” said Michael DiMare, CEO and co-founder of Bedrock Ocean Exploration. “This funding will allow us to scale our operations and bring our robots to market, which will help us to unlock the potential of the ocean for exploration, science, and sustainable development.”

Bedrock’s robots are based on a modular design that allows them to be customized for a variety of applications. The robots are also equipped with a variety of sensors that can collect data on the seafloor, including sonar, cameras, and environmental sensors.

The company’s robots have already been used in a number of projects, including mapping the seafloor off the coast of New York and identifying potential hazards for offshore wind farms. Bedrock is also working on projects to map the seafloor in the Arctic and to develop robots that can collect data on marine life.

The funding announcement comes at a time of growing interest in ocean exploration and offshore wind energy. The global ocean economy is estimated to be worth trillions of dollars, and offshore wind energy is a rapidly growing industry. Bedrock’s robots have the potential to play a significant role in both of these sectors.

“We believe that Bedrock is at the forefront of a new era of ocean exploration,” said Michael Kim, managing partner of Eniac Ventures. “Their robots have the potential to revolutionize the way we collect and analyze seafloor data, and we are excited to partner with them to bring their technology to market.”

With this latest funding, Bedrock is well-positioned to accelerate its growth and become a leading player in the ocean exploration and offshore wind energy markets. The company is currently hiring for a variety of positions, and it is looking for partners to help it bring its robots to market.
