Mindful Health Secures $12 Million for Clinic Expansion and Mental Health Services

Mindful Health, a multilevel outpatient mental health provider, has extended its funding round to $12 million. The company initially raised an oversubscribed $6 million and decided to continue fundraising efforts to accelerate its de novo clinic expansion plans. This expansion aims to extend the reach of its comprehensive approach to outpatient mental health services.

Founded in 2021 and launched in April 2022, Mindful Health offers a wide range of services including therapy, medication management, holistic wellness, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, nasal esketamine, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) services. Additionally, the company provides telehealth and virtual programming, catering to diverse patient needs.

Eric Griffin, principal at WP Global Partners, the primary investor backing Mindful Health, emphasized the importance of service models that lower healthcare costs while improving the quality of care. Griffin noted that such models are key to successful businesses moving forward, and Mindful Health aligns with this vision.

Jennifer Wood, CEO of Mindful Health, previously served as CEO and owner of Psych Now LLC and executive vice president of Texas operations for MindCare Solutions. Wood explained that the company aims to build a “mental health home” for its clientele, providing everything under one roof to support patients through their entire mental health journey. This approach contrasts with the typical revolving door in mental health, where patients are often referred out to other practices.

Mindful Health operates four clinics in Texas and plans to add four more in 2025, followed by between four and eight new clinics in 2026. The company targets areas with fast population growth that are not well served by competitors. Wood highlighted that the company focuses on providing care in an upscale, spa-like environment, establishing relationships with hospitals to ensure access to higher levels of care if needed.

The majority of Mindful Health’s patients are aged 20 to 50, with the company also offering pediatric services to children as young as five. Revenue is generated primarily through contracts with commercial payers, with about 20% of patients paying with cash. The company does not work with Medicaid.

Wood pointed out that Mindful Health has a financial and clinical incentive to treat patients at the appropriate level and duration. She noted that while therapy services have thin margins, treatments like TMS and esketamine have stronger margins and can lead to remission for patients with certain conditions, such as major depressive disorder.

This funding extension underscores the growing need for comprehensive mental health services and the importance of strategic investment in this sector. Mindful Health’s expansion plans aim to address the mental health challenges faced by many, particularly in underserved communities, by providing accessible and high-quality care.
