Cohesity Secures $150 Million in Series F Funding to Enhance Cyber-Resilience and AI Capabilities with IBM and NVIDIA Partnerships
Data management provider Cohesity has recently completed its Series F round of venture capital funding, securing $150 million in investments from strategic partners IBM and NVIDIA. This funding round marks a significant milestone in Cohesity’s mission to deliver comprehensive cyber-resilience and AI solutions to modern enterprises.
Cohesity’s collaboration with IBM is centered around enhancing cyber-resilience capabilities across hybrid cloud environments. IBM will integrate Cohesity’s DataProtect into its Storage Defender platform, a cyber-resilience solution designed to protect organizational data from sophisticated cyber threats. This partnership aims to provide joint customers with a secured backup and recovery solution that safeguards data against ransomware, human error, and sabotage.
IBM Storage Defender utilizes AI and event monitoring across multiple storage platforms to protect the data layer from various risks. The solution also includes features such as a cyber vault and clean room with automated recovery functions, enabling companies to restore business-critical data in hours or minutes, significantly reducing downtime from what used to take days.
Cohesity’s Chief Executive, Sanjay Poonen, emphasized the importance of the partnership with IBM, stating that IBM brings decades of expertise to the relationship, along with their investment in Cohesity’s business to fund incremental research and development. This collaboration is expected to offer customers even stronger cyber-resilience capabilities.
In addition to the partnership with IBM, Cohesity’s Series F funding round also includes participation from NVIDIA. This investment will further Cohesity’s collaboration with NVIDIA on generative AI, specifically through the integration of NVIDIA AI Enterprise into Cohesity Gaia and the use of NVIDIA NIM microservices. This collaboration opens Cohesity’s technology and the data it protects and manages to NVIDIA’s developer and partner ecosystems, providing more opportunities for modern AI applications.
The Series F funding round follows Cohesity’s announcement in February 2024 of its plans to acquire the Veritas NetBackup and Alta data protection businesses. This acquisition is expected to round out Cohesity’s workload support and expand its Cloud Services capabilities, providing access to Veritas’ longstanding traction and strong reputation in enterprise workloads, including its sales presence and global support network.
Cohesity’s approach to delivering comprehensive cyber-resilience and AI solutions involves combining its own innovations with the strengths of its strategic partners. By leveraging the expertise and resources of industry leaders like IBM and NVIDIA, Cohesity is well-positioned to address the evolving data security and protection needs of modern enterprises. This strategy not only empowers businesses to tackle critical data protection challenges but also unlocks exciting new possibilities for AI applications.
The completion of Cohesity’s Series F funding round, coupled with its strategic partnerships and acquisitions, underscores the company’s commitment to advancing cyber-resilience and AI capabilities. With the support of industry heavyweights IBM and NVIDIA, Cohesity is poised to make significant strides in addressing the complex data security needs of modern enterprises.
