Raspberry AI Secures $24 Million to Revolutionize Fashion Design

Raspberry AI, a New York-based startup that leverages artificial intelligence to expedite fashion design, has secured $24 million in Series A funding. The investment round was led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), with participation from existing investors Greycroft, Correlation Ventures, and MVP Ventures, along with notable angel investors Gokul Rajaram and Ken Pilot.

The company, founded in 2022 by Cheryl Liu, aims to revolutionize the fashion industry by providing next-generation tools that enable designers, product developers, and marketers to create and market best-selling products more quickly, efficiently, and sustainably. Raspberry AI’s platform utilizes generative AI to design styles that are in high demand, offering the convenience of instantly generating technical packs and CADs for any product image.

The funding will be used to accelerate product development and add top engineering, sales, and marketing talent to the team. Raspberry AI has already gained significant traction in the fashion industry, counting 70 customers, including prominent brands such as Under Armour, Grupo Teddy, and MCM Worldwide.

Raspberry AI’s technology allows designers to visualize and iterate their ideas nearly instantly with its text-to-image platform. This capability is particularly valuable in the fast-paced fashion industry, where brands and manufacturers are under pressure to constantly introduce new styles. The traditional design process often involves ordering physical samples, which can take weeks, or using older computer-aided design tools. Raspberry AI’s platform, however, enables designers to turn their sketches into photo-realistic images, allowing brands to decide whether to manufacture a product without the need for physical prototypes.

The company’s ability to understand and accurately interpret industry-specific terminology sets it apart from other AI image generators. For example, the term “fuzzy sweater” encompasses a range of design-specific details that generic AI tools may not comprehend. Raspberry AI’s platform can create images from sketches and understand the nuances of fashion terminology, making it a preferred choice for professional designers.

The investment from Andreessen Horowitz reflects the firm’s interest in AI companies that can accelerate the fashion manufacturing process. Raspberry AI’s existing investors also participated in the round, underscoring their confidence in the company’s potential. The funding will enable Raspberry AI to expand its team and explore new applications in home, furniture, and cosmetics product design.

Raspberry AI’s growth and funding success highlight the increasing importance of AI in the fashion industry. As consumers demand new styles at an ever-faster pace, brands and manufacturers are turning to technology to streamline their design processes. With its innovative platform and strong investor backing, Raspberry AI is poised to play a significant role in shaping the future of fashion design.
