Hyperbolic Secures $12 Million in Series A Funding to Enhance Web3 AI Infrastructure and Launch AI Rainforest Ecosystem
Hyperbolic, a company specializing in Web3 AI infrastructure and services, has successfully completed a $12 million Series A funding round. This significant investment was led by Variant and Polychain Capital, with additional support from Chapter One, Lightspeed Faction, IOSG, Vertex, GSR, Wintermute Ventures, Blockchain Builders Fund, Alumni Ventures, and Ambush. This funding brings the total amount raised by Hyperbolic to $20 million.
The company plans to use the fresh capital to expand its engineering team and enhance various other departments. A key focus will be on advancing the construction of its proprietary blockchain, which is slated for launch next year. Alongside the funding announcement, Hyperbolic unveiled its new cloud-hosted GPU marketplace, a crucial component of its evolving AI infrastructure.
Hyperbolic’s platform, dubbed the “AI Rainforest,” aims to create an interconnected ecosystem where AI developers have access to a comprehensive array of tools needed for designing, building, training, and deploying AI applications. This concept mirrors the sustainable and diverse nature of actual rainforests, where biodiversity thrives through complex interdependent relationships.
The company’s vision is to provide verifiable, secure, and reliable AI services to the market by integrating global GPU computing resources and incorporating blockchain technology. This approach effectively alleviates the industry’s pain points of high computing resource costs and uneven distribution. Additionally, Hyperbolic has launched a decentralized orchestration layer, Hyper-dOS (Hyperbolic Distributed Operating System), to provide solid technical support for the entire GPU market.
Hyperbolic Co-Founder and CEO Jasper Zhang emphasized the importance of this funding round, stating that it will enable the company to transition from its earlier, scrappier phase to a more refined and confident approach. The new investment will provide Hyperbolic with a clearer strategy, enabling it to create an ecosystem that delivers scalable, reliable, and accessible infrastructure for AI growth and collaboration.
The company’s previous funding rounds include a $7 million seed round led by Polychain Capital and Lightspeed Faction in June, and $725,000 in pre-seed funding. This latest Series A funding round underscores the growing interest in blockchain and AI technologies, signaling a booming investment landscape in these sectors.
Hyperbolic’s mission to build an AI Rainforest aligns with the broader industry trend of leveraging blockchain to ensure authenticity and security in AI infrastructure and services. By aggregating a decentralized network of GPU power, Hyperbolic aims to provide open access to AI infrastructure and services, fostering innovation and collaboration among researchers and developers.
The successful completion of this funding round highlights Hyperbolic’s potential to become a leading player in the Web3 AI space. With the support of prominent investors and a clear vision for its AI Rainforest ecosystem, Hyperbolic is poised to make significant strides in addressing the industry’s challenges and unlocking new opportunities for AI growth and collaboration.
