Empirical Security, a cybersecurity company based in Chicago, Illinois, has raised a $25 million Series A to build out its threat discovery and prediction products. Brightmind Partners led the round, which the company announced on July 20, 2026.
Costanoa Ventures, Hyde Park Angels, and other investors also joined, bringing Empirical’s total funding to $37 million. Founded in 2024, the company focuses on helping organizations predict and identify threats in the agentic AI era.
Empirical sells two main products. Foundation is a global cybersecurity model that monitors more than 18,000 exploited CVEs to forecast where attacks are headed, while Radiant is a predictive engine that flags the threats most relevant to each organization’s own environment.
The company was co-founded by chief executive Ed Bellis, who earlier co-founded Kenna Security, chief technology officer Michael Roytman, who was chief data scientist at Kenna, and chief data scientist Jay Jacobs, who co-created the Exploit Prediction Scoring System. Empirical plans to put the new capital toward speeding up development of its two flagship products.
